Hello, my name is Owain, and I am a qualified counsellor based in Exeter, Devon.
Should you be considering counselling, I hope that the information here will be both clear and reassuring.
I am warm, compassionate, and non-judgemental and I believe in the power of human connection. By establishing this connection with you at this important moment in your life, I'm hoping to help you move forward in a positive way.
If you wish to explore counselling further, we can discuss your goals and preferences regarding how we can work together effectively. I am committed to ensuring you feel heard and understood while working with you to create new new ways of thinking and being. I know from my own experience that this can be hard to imagine but be rest assured, change is possible. Difficult or traumatic experiences in the past do not have to dictate your future.
I recognise that effective counselling can have a profoundly transformative impact. It allows us to feel genuinely listened to and understood. It provides a necessary space to express our pain and frustrations, and it enables us to delve deeper into our thoughts and behaviours, fostering a clearer understanding of ourselves. Through my own counselling journey, as well as the positive outcomes I have witnessed in my clients, I believe deeply in the benefits of this process.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you are interested in scheduling a free 30-minute consultation to learn more.
A Tailored, Integrative Approach
As a BACP-registered integrative counsellor, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches to support adults and young people (16–18) with diverse challenges.
You know yourself best, and together, we’ll explore your path—sometimes in unexpected directions—to uncover new insights, much like forging a new path through uncharted terrain. It is important to recognise that this path may not always align with your expectations. There’s no one-size-fits-all in therapy. My role is to adapt and respond to your unique needs, using the approaches and tools that serve you best.
My areas of particular interest include Internal Family Systems (IFS), Polyvagal Theory—which focuses on befriending the nervous system— ,Gestalt and Person-Centred counselling.
I embrace a creative approach to my practice, employing imagery, metaphor, and movement to facilitate the expression of thoughts and feelings, whilst also fostering new avenues for exploration.
